About the Author

Me and my dog in the beautiful village of Hautvillers.

Hello, I’m Hiromi.

I have been a professional in the Champagne industry for over 20 years. My journey began in wine journalism and retail in Japan, and since 2013, I have been living and working in the heart of the Champagne region itself.

Having lived in both Reims and Épernay, I’ve had the unique opportunity to work with both a Grande Maison and a local grower producer. My formal studies in wine marketing in France further deepened my professional and cultural understanding of the region. These diverse experiences have given me a balanced perspective—from grand, centuries-old traditions to the authentic, hands-on world of grower-producers.

To me, Champagne is about more than just flavor. I am endlessly captivated by the beauty of its bubbles, the brilliance in the glass, and the way it brings a touch of happiness to any occasion. Above all, I hold a deep respect for the terroir and the timeless traditions that nurture these exceptional wines.

A Professional Guide to Champagne, Rooted in 20 Years of Experience.

Why I started this English blog

In my daily work, I often have the opportunity to speak with guests from all over the world. Through these conversations, I began to notice small gaps in information—details that could make a trip much smoother or more meaningful if known in advance. I realized that sharing these local insights in English could be genuinely helpful for those planning their own journey to the region.

What you can expect here

My goal is not to provide a typical tourist guide, but to offer practical and thoughtful advice based on my years of experience living and working here. Whether you are looking for a deeper understanding of the local culture or tips for your upcoming visit, I hope the information here helps you enjoy the Champagne region to the fullest.
